Apple's iPhoto is a convenient application to use to organize and edit your digital photos, but it restricts you to having to keep all of your photos in a single, monolithic library. iPhoto Library Manager adds an additional level of control over your iPhoto collection by allowing you to keep your photos in multiple libraries and transfer them back and forth without losing your keywords, ratings, and all the other information you've worked to assign to your photos.
Create multiple iPhoto libraries
With iPhoto Library Manager, you can create an iPhoto library in any location, including external and network drives. This lets you easily separate work from personal photos, keep separate projects apart, or access a single library from more than one machine
Easily switch between libraries
iPhoto Library Manager keeps track of your libraries and allows you to switch between them using several different methods. In addition to opening a library from the main window, you can also create double-clickable shortcut files for your libraries, or open them directly from iPLM's icon in the dock.
Share libraries
In order to share a library among multiple users on a machine, you need to set permissions for the library so that each user can access it. iPhoto Library Manager provides easy controls for quickly setting permissions for a library.
Copy albums and events
Normally, if you want to transfer photos from one library to another, you have to first manually export your photos from one library, and then import them into the other library. In addition to being inconvenient, this results in the loss of your iPhoto metadata such as ratings, keywords, descriptions, faces, and places. iPhoto Library Manager lets you copy albums or events from one library to another via simple drag and drop, and will copy over all your photos' metadata as well
Merging libraries
In addition to copying individual albums and events, you can use iPhoto Library Manager to merge entire libraries together, while retaining all your album and event organization as well as your photo metadata
Rebuild a corrupt iPhoto library
Sometimes, an iPhoto library will become corrupted so that you can no longer access your photos. iPhoto Library Manager's rebuild feature can construct a brand new library with the same structure as your original one, based on whatever data can be salvaged from the library.
